Our Story

Forty years of Agora

Giancarlo and Silvana

Giancarlo and Silvana are not only the first of our family to enter the world of hospitality and catering-they are the roots and strength of the Agora project.

Our story begins in the 1980s, a few dozen meters from where our facility is now located, from the desire to create a place where the inhabitants of these valleys could gather to share their free time and travelers could feel at home.

Thus was born the dream of opening a welcoming space for our community. A dream that Silvana and Giancarlo still carry on now, lending a hand to the rest of the family and continuing to work - in the kitchen as well as behind the counter - every day with the same passion as always!

Viviana and Lorraine

With the arrival of the new millennium, an important new path also begins for the family business. Our town, Calamandrana, goes through a major project of urban expansion and redevelopment. And at the same time people are beginning to become more and more aware of the cultural, landscape and food and wine heritage of our area.

It is in this wonderful context that Viviana and Lorena, daughters of Silvana and Giancarlo, decide to seize the moment to enter the world of hospitality and catering. And at the same time the headquarters of the business moved to the structure where it is still located today.
In a short time Agora became the reference point of nightlife in the Belbo Valley, thanks to the winning format of the wine bar with live music.

Building the identity of the Agora

Meanwhile, in 2014 something happens that we have been waiting for a long time and that will radically transform our territory: Monferrato, Langhe and Roero become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The greatest recognition for our roots and for the places we have always loved.

So we decide to focus more and more on hospitality and catering committed to enhancing on the one hand our beloved traditional Piedmontese recipes and on the other hand the wines that have made these lands great.

New generations and new challenges

And finally we come to our present and the challenges that will await us in these years. Having overcome the most difficult years of the pandemic, our family (the most important value of the Agora project) has strengthened and expanded. Thanks to Tommaso, the third generation of the family to devote himself to catering, a great wine enthusiast ready to tell our clients about all the labels in our cellar.

Our territory continues to grow and we want to do it together. So many are the dreams that animate our work: the desire to expand, improve and continue to weave a network of relationships both with the inhabitants of our community (who show us their affection every day) and with the many people from all over Italy and the world who come to visit us and get to know us.

Because working in our sphere means opening our doors to the world, and this is one of the aspects that gratifies us the most, and gives us the charge to continue to carry on what we do with love.

To all the people who have chosen Agora over the years: thank you!
